Janakpur Bolts win inaugural Nepal Premier League title

Janakpur Bolts Clinch Inaugural Nepal Premier League Title with Thrilling Win Over Sudurpaschim Royals

Janakpur Bolts triumphed in the inaugural Nepal Premier League (NPL) final, defeating Sudurpaschim Royals by five wickets with four balls to spare at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on December 21.

After electing to bat first, the Royals posted an impressive total of 184 for 9. Opener Saif Zaib led the charge with a stellar 69 off 43 balls, while Binod Bhandari chipped in with a steady 41 off 31 balls. Their 117-run opening partnership set a strong platform, but Janakpur’s bowlers, Kishore Mahato (3/25) and Mohammad Mohsin (3/40), fought back brilliantly to contain the middle order and prevent an even bigger score.

Chasing 185, Janakpur Bolts’ opener Lahiru Milantha delivered an electrifying performance, smashing 87 off just 49 balls. Supported by Aasif Sheikh’s quickfire 33 off 19, the Bolts made a blazing start, scoring 71 runs in the powerplay. Milantha capitalized on a dropped catch by Royals captain Dipendra Singh Airee, hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes to steer his team toward victory.

While wickets fell at the other end, Harsh Thaker held his ground with an unbeaten 30, ensuring stability. Mayank Yadav sealed the win with a composed finish in the final over.

Lahiru Milantha was named Player of the Match for his explosive knock, while Saif Zaib was awarded Player of the Tournament for his consistent performances.

Despite dominating the league stage with two victories over the Bolts, Sudurpaschim Royals fell short in the final showdown, handing Janakpur Bolts their maiden NPL title.
